Unemployment is falling and more people are getting jobs than ever before, according to the Office of National Statistics.
Employment has risen to a healthy 32.4 million, a record rate according to senior ONS statistician Matt Hughes, with unemployment falling by 12,000 to 1.41 million.
Job vacancies are also on the rise - an exciting prospect for those graduating or just starting out their careers. With a staggering 824,000 vacancies available, it bodes well for the next generation of workers looking for opportunities.
Despite the increase in people willing to work, the wage rate is struggling to keep up with the sheer volume of employment, slowing to its weakest rate in six months with weekly wage growth dipping by 2.5% between March and May.
In response to the employment growth, an August rate rise may be in touching distance, with the Bank of England discussing interest rates next month whereby a quarter-point increase is expected to be authorised.
